History

At Boutcher, our History curriculum nurtures curiosity, critical thinking and a deep understanding of how the past shapes our present and future. Rooted in our Christian values, we encourage children to explore diverse perspectives, ask thoughtful questions, and reflect on issues such as justice, identity and community.

Through engaging and well-sequenced topics, pupils develop the skills to investigate evidence, understand change over time, and consider the moral and spiritual lessons history can teach us. Our aim is to inspire reflective, informed and responsible citizens who can contribute thoughtfully to the world around them.

We enrich our History curriculum by making the most of our local area and the wider city, bringing learning to life through meaningful educational visits that connect children with the past beyond the classroom.
