Art and Design at Boutcher

 

At Boutcher we aim to nurture every child’s creativity and confidence as an artist. Our curriculum builds skills progressively while encouraging children to experiment, explore ideas and take pride in the creative process as much as the final outcome.

 

We introduce children to a wide range of artists, designers and craftspeople from different times and cultures, helping them to recognise that art is a form of communication and a reflection of the world around us. Through this exposure, children build rich cultural capital and develop an appreciation of how art shapes and responds to society.

 

We support children in developing the technical skills and visual language needed to draw, paint, sculpt and design with increasing control and imagination.

 

We purposefully provide rich opportunities for collaboration and performance through shared exhibitions and displays, helping children to celebrate creativity as a community and to understand the role of art and design in shaping culture.
