KS2 Weekly Junior comments
The British Academy Film Awards took place on Sunday 22nd February. The ceremony celebrates the best films, actors and production teams from the past year.
If you could give a BAFTA to any film you’ve seen, which would you choose and why? Think about the story, the special effects, the acting, or anything else that made it stand out.
Yusra (Year 6)
I would give the BAFTA The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas which is a 2008 historical drama film set during the Holocaust. it showed me how the Jews were treated by the Nazis, as they were forced in camps in which they worked in. It also shows the importance of friendship as Bruno became friends with Shcmul even when they weren't supposed to. I really enjoyed the movie, even though it made me sad!
Jotham (Year 4)
I have three movies that I like, they are Kung-fu Panda 4, Sonic 3 and the Vin Diesel Pacifier movie. For Kung-fu Panda 4, I chose it because of its determination to defeat the chameleon and he did it with a friend called Zhen and by the way, if you didn't know what the pandas' name was it was Po. Next for Sonic 3, I chose it because of its friendship between Sonic and Shadow and how they realised they had the same story at the beginning. Sonic's story was about leaving his mother called Longclaw and Shadow's story was the same thing and his story was about leaving his friend named Maria and it was quite a sad story because she had died because of a big fire 🔥. So what I found out is that Sonic and Shadow had the same story about leaving their loved ones. So in the end, both teamed up to defeat an evil man called Dr Robotnik and they saved the day. Lastly, the story about Vin Diesel was about his legendary karate skills. In the beginning, he was given the toughest mission yet :babysitting. Throughout the movie, I understood that this movie was about passion. It taught me that you have to take time to understand people.

Notices
As we have entered the hay fever season, lots of children with allergies may need to have eyedrops or medicine given to them in the morning before school. Please contact the office if your child requires medication during the school day and give the required medication.
If your child is absent for reasons other than illness, please complete all homework including daily reading and TTRS/Numbots.

We are looking forward to Science week next week where we will be thinking about:

We are looking forward to Friday 20th March, where some children in Year 5 will be admitted to Holy Communion. Please keep them in your prayers during Lent.
We break up for the Easter holidays on Friday 27th March. We will attend St May’s Church at 10am for our Easter service and then children will be dismissed from 12:30pm and must be collected by 1:30pm.

World Book Day
What a fantastic World Book Day celebration we had!
We loved listening to magical fairy tales, while our Key Stage Two classes reflected on their reading journeys and created their own beautiful Reading Rivers.
The sunshine even came out for our costume parade, making it extra special!
A huge thank you to everyone who created a brilliant Book Box - it was a delight to see them all in the exhibition. Such creativity and imagination on display. What wonderfully creative children we have!
Please consider sponsoring your child as they take part in our Reading Bingo challenge.
A letter and sponsorship card have been sent home with all the details. Every contribution, big or small, will help enormously as we work towards purchasing more wonderful books for us to enjoy reading aloud together.
Thank you for supporting our love of reading!
