KS2 Weekly Junior comments
An American man has climbed a 101-floor skyscraper without any ropes or safety equipment.
Why do you think someone would choose to do something so risky and do you think it's brave, dangerous or both? Explain why.
Mini (Year 6)
I think somebody would choose to do something so risky for the fame and the feeling of accomplishment. I think it’s dangerous because if you were trying to prove being brave then I think you would do something a bit less dangerous because if you make one mistake on the climb you could die. I don’t think he should have done it because it could influence other people to do it who are not as good at climbing. Being brave isn’t about doing something stupid, it’s about doing something that’s actually going to help society even if it’s dangerous.
Eleanor (Year 5)
I think someone would choose to scale a 101-floor skyscraper without ropes or safety equipment because they’re like Philippe Petit, except they love scaling buildings instead of tight roping. I think it is brave I am afraid of heights and only one person did it before Alex Honnold, and he did it with ropes and a harness. It is also dangerous because if he fell he would die because he didn’t have a safety net to stop his fall.
