KS2 Weekly Junior comments
Lots of people have been talking about a new rule that has just come in at Rome's famous Trevi Fountain, which means that tourists now have to pay to view it.
Should you have to pay to take a photo at famous tourist spots?
Matilda (Year 4)
I think people should pay at least a little bit because the city could use the money for cleaning up parks and roads and planting more trees and flowers that also visitors can enjoy. It does not need to be much, just one or two pounds could make a difference. We would need to come up with a system that makes payments easy and fun. Maybe people could dress up and wear costumes and ask tourists for a photography fee in front of famous sights.
Adesola (Year 6)
I think you should not pay because it’s a public place and I think people should enjoy taking pictures and making memories not paying to remember memories. The Trevi fountain is a very big tourist attraction in Italy and it’s visited by over 10 million people a year and now the Italian government are making people pay just to taking a photo. I strongly disagree with this. I am very happy that I went to Trevi fountain before you weren’t able to take photos.
