KS2 Weekly Junior comments

An RSPCA Wildlife Centre in Somerset has recently released six seals back into the wild. Read the article to find out more about the important job that they do and talk about it with your family. Then answer the question:

Do you think humans have a responsibility to help injured wild animals? Why or why not?

Elsa (Year 6)

I think do have a responsibility to protect animals. I believe this because we have created climate change, leading to storms or other natural disasters which are the reasons why seals and other animals are being injured in the first place and it is good that we have committees that can help the planet. One thing I would also like to add is that there is also a natural process of animals dying from attacks or abandonment because if there wasn't this there would be to many seals creating an imbalance. This also links to our science topic of evolution and animals adapting over time. Overall, I think it is good to help them especially extinct animals but it can also have negative impacts.

Gemini (Year 5)

I think humans have a responsibility to protect animals because the reason that some of the animals are injured is because of us throwing rubbish in the sea and we are causing global warming making ice melt. I think they should also start protecting some animals like Chinese mitten crabs because even though they are wild that doesn't mean that you should leave them alone and not protect them.

Notices

As we have entered the hay fever season, lots of children with allergies may need to have eyedrops or medicine given to them in the morning before school. Please contact the office if your child requires medication during the school day and give the required medication.

If your child is absent for reasons other than illness, please complete all homework including daily reading and TTRS/Numbots.

We are looking forward to Friday 20th March, where some children in Year 5 will be admitted to Holy Communion. Please keep them in your prayers during Lent.

We break up for the Easter holidays on Friday 27th March. We will attend St May’s Church at 10am for our Easter service and then children will be dismissed from 12:30pm and must be collected by 1:30pm.

Science Week

We had a fantastic week celebrating Science Week! Years 3–6 visited the Science Museum, where they enjoyed a range of hands-on experiences that brought science to life. Meanwhile, our KS1 children had a brilliant Science Day at school, taking part in exciting investigations and even trying some space yoga. It was a fun-filled week of curiosity, discovery and learning for everyone!
