Bridget Phillipson, the Education Secretary, has said that there is nothing wrong with children being bored. She made the comment in response to the government's decision to ban some social media platforms for under-16s from 2027.

Is being bored always a bad thing? Can you share a time when being bored helped you think of something fun or creative to do?

Being bored is not always a bad thing as sometimes it fires up your creative thinking. Last week, I was bored and chose to create a very large hopscotch outside my house with various colours & as a result so many people knocked on my door saying it brought joy to their day & brough back joyful childhood memories. One of my neighbours actually bought me sweets in order to repay me for the happiness it brought him and another neighbour nearly teared up saying “It was so amazing that some children still played outside instead of playing inside”, she even took a photo! Sometimes being bored is a good thing, in my case it brought me lots of joy to make it & brought lots if happiness to people passing by.

When I get bored I read books or listen to books but sometimes I build a big lego tower or build a cardboard fortress which is fun and sometimes it is good to be bored because you can use your mind.
