KS2 Homework Comment of the Week

Should cats be kept inside at night?

Congratulations to Lucas in Year 5 and Minaal in Year 4 for your comment of the week!

I think that cats should not stay inside overnight because we would be stopping them being in their natural habitat.  They have good instinct to survive outside alone and they should put a bell around their neck so their prey get warned so they can run away.

(Lucas, Year 5)

I have two cats and I would do anything to keep them safe. So in my opinion cats should be free to go outside when it’s morning but when the sky slowly turns cloudy and suddenly dark and everything goes deadly then I would get my two cats and take them home because at night foxes might be lurking around and the next thing they might be attacked or maybe eaten. I know that life is challenging and that it’s like a food chain. For example the worm gets eaten by the bird the bird gets eaten by the cat the cat gets eaten by the fox but we should look after animals as they all have predators and as they all have feelings just like us. If they were getting attacked they would probably be terrified. So yes, cats should be kept inside at night.

(Minaal, Year 4)
