Sizzling Sprints in Burgess Park!

posted 5 Oct 2015, 05:30 by Boutcher PS
Last Thursday saw our first Cross Country Competition of the Year with 13 Year 6 children and 12 Year 5 children competing against several local Southwark schools in Burgess Park.  The conditions were nearly perfect, with bright sunshine but slightly slippery going as it had rained the night before.  Year 5 Girls went first - very keen starters with the official having to contain the eager competitors.  Everyone was so keen to get off that they hared off at full speed, and ran out of steam at the first corner!  Phoebe was wise, though, and maintained a steady pace which saw her to finish third over all.   Well done!  Daniel ran as part of the Year 6 Boys team, and had a similar experience, with most people slowing to a walk after the first corner.  However, after a quick breather, many carried on jogging, refusing to give up!  Boutcher's teams placed in the top half of the competition and everyone enjoyed a really great day of cross country chaos!  By Phoebe (Y5) and Daniel (Y6).
